CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. — A Caruthersville child was killed and man seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in Pemiscot County. CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. — A Caruthersville child was killed and man seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in Pemiscot County.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, as the westbound vehicle driven by Joshua A. Lacey, 24, of Caruthersville was traveling on East 7th Street at Maple Street in Caruthersville and ran off the right side of the road, became airborne, drove through a fence and struck a tree.

Lacey’s 5-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:45 p.m. by Pemiscot County Coroner Jim Brimhall and taken to the coroner’s office in Hayti.

Lacey received serious injuries and was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
