CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — The Rev. Galen Timothy “Father Tim” Vowels, 69, died June 10, 2020.
Born May 7, 1951, son of the late Clifford E. and Marcelle Barnbrook Vowels, he grew up in Charleston and graduated from St. Henry High School in 1969. After graduating from St. Louis University in 1973, he attended Kenrick Seminary for the Archdiocese of St. Louis and was ordained a priest on May 21, 1977. He served at the following parishes: Mary Queen of Peace in Webster Groves, Immaculate Heart of Mary in St. Louis, St. Martin De Porres in Hazelwood, Incarnate Word of Chesterfield, and Holy Redeemer in Webster Groves. As a deacon, he served at the St. Louis Cathedral. He also worked for the Society of the Propagation of the Faith. He spent 15 years as pastor of Incarnate Word.
Survivors include: two brothers, Gary (Shirley) Vowels and Rick Vowels; four nephews, Daren Vowels, Scott Vowels, Nathan Vowels and Nolen Vowels; two nieces, Megan Vowels Smith and Laura Vowels Brackett; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Hugh Vowels; and a sister-in-law, Diana Vowels.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Incarnate Word Parish in Chesterfield, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the IOOF Cemetery at Charleston.
