Jim DeWitt Jr.
SIKESTON — James Lonnie “Jim” DeWitt Jr., 59, formerly of Williston, Tennessee, died July 13, 2020, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Dec. 6, 1960, in Wyatt, son of James Lonnie and Shirley Long DeWitt of Sikeston, he was a graduate of Bartlett High School in Bartlett, Tennessee. He had lived most of his life in the Oakland, Tennessee, area where he owned DeWitt Trailers and was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church in Oakland. He moved to Sikeston in October 2019.
On Dec. 1, 1984, he married Joani Thompson who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Chase DeWitt, Aaron DeWitt and Nicolas DeWitt all of Oakland; one sister, Missy Montgomery of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Tammy Parker; and his grandparents, John and Ethel Long and Link and Geneva Dewitt; and one granddaughter;
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. July 16 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Richard Long, Jim’s uncle, of Johnson City, Tennessee, officiated.
Burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
Pallbearers were: Chase DeWitt, Aaron DeWitt, Nicholas DeWitt, Charlie Montgomery, Peyton Montgomery and Jimmy Parker.
