Scott County nears 300 positive COVID-19 cases

Local counties continue to see increases in the number of the coronavirus cases.

The Scott County Health Department reported 12 new cases on Thursday afternoon, giving the county 279 cases. Of those, 69 are active with 197 recovered and 13 deaths related to COVID-19 being reported.

The Mississippi County Health Department reported an increase in cases from 119 to 127. The total number of cases in the community increased from 72 to 80 with seven of those cases active.

The number of active cases among inmates at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston is one with 46 having recovered. There were 20 staff members at SECC that tested positive and the Missouri Department of Corrections reports all but two have recovered.

The New Madrid County Health Department reported five new cases Thursday afternoon, giving the county 121 cases with 49 active and 72 out of quarantine. There has been one death related to COVID-19 being reported.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center reported an additional case Thursday, giving the county 180 cases. Of those, 13 are active with 158 recovered and nine deaths reported that were related to COVID-19.

The Dunklin County Health Department reported seven additional cases on Thursday afternoon, giving the county 183 cases with 54 active and 126 recovered with three deaths.

Two additional cases were reported by the Pemiscot County Health Center, giving the county 175 cases with 46 active and 123 released from isolation. There are five county residents hospitalized with six deaths related to virus being reported.

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center reported eight additional cases Thursday afternoon, giving the county 491 cases with 44 probable. There have been 358 recoveries with 174 active and three deaths reported that are related to COVID-19.

For the third-straight day, Missouri set a record for single-day cases with 1,652, surpassing Thursday’s record of 1,637. To date, Missouri has 39,352 cases with 1,178 deaths.
