CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — A Cape Girardeau man pled guilty to robbery and firearm charges Wednesday in federal court in Cape Girardeau.
De’Drevion Savage, 21, of Cape Girardeau pleaded guilty to charges of Interference with Commerce by Robbery and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence, according to the United States Attorney’s Office. He appeared before U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr.
During that guilty plea, Savage admitted to committing robbery on three occasions at two different Southeast Missouri businesses. Savage committed two of those robberies by using a firearm.
Savage admitted robbing an employee of the Sonic Restaurant in Sikeston, Missouri, on Nov. 12, 2017, along with another unknown male. In that robbery, Savage struck the female manager, knocking her to the ground, before he took the night deposit money for the business from her. Sikeston officers investigated and found Savage later that evening, still in possession of some of the money from that robbery. Savage admitted robbing an employee of the Family Dollar Store, 736 William St., in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on Oct. 21, 2019. On that occasion, Savage pointed a small handgun at the store clerk to force her to give him the money from the store. Savage also pled guilty to robbing the same Family Dollar Store again on Oct. 27, 2019. He used a handgun in that robbery to force the clerk to give him the money from the store.
The robbery charges each carry a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty years. The firearms charges carry a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of seven years to a maximum of life. The sentences for the firearms charges must run consecutively to each other and to the robbery sentences.
These cases were investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Cape Girardeau Police Department and Sikeston Department of Public Safety. Assistant United States Attorney Keith D. Sorrell handled the prosecution for the government.
