SIKESTON — A fundraiser to install 31 lockers in the dressing rooms of the Sikeston Little Theatre is underway.

Currently, funds have been raised for 10 lockers, which have been installed at the Theatre, according to Wayne Noe, volunteer with the Theatre.

“We would like to have 31 lockers,” Noe said, adding the lockers look similar to those seen in a professional sports team’s locker room.

The lockers are constructed by offenders at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston, Missouri, through the Missouri Vocational Enterprises-Correctional Industries program, which aims to create meaningful job training for incarcerated offenders, according to the program’s website. MVE utilizes offender labor, along with supervisors and administrative staff, to provide quality products and services to state agencies and other not-for-profit entities.

“I’ve always supported programs and projects to improve the audience experience at the Little Theatre, and I wanted to do something for the actors,” Noe said about the fundraising idea.

Each locker will feature a plaque of the donor’s name, he said.

“They are incredibly spacious and really nice,” Noe said.

Lockers are $200 each. To make a donation or for more information contact Noe at (573) 380-6844.
