Two dead after being struck by train in Pemiscot County

HAYTI, Mo. — Two people were killed after their vehicle failed to yield to a train Friday in Pemiscot County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Gettings Lange in Hayti as the eastbound vehicle driven by Titusan Townsend, 52, of Columbia, Missouri, failed to yield at a railroad crossing marked by cross bucks and was struck by an oncoming southbound General Electric Burlington Northern train engine.
Townsend and his passenger, Ricky L. Tillman, 51, of Kennett, Missouri, were pronounced dead at the scene at 6:15 p.m. by Pemiscot County Coroner Jim Brimhall and taken to the Pemiscot County Morgue.
