CHARLESTON, Mo. — John V. “Dugan” Hopper, 85, died Monday, August 17, 2020, at the Charleston Manor.
Born May 19, 1935, to the late John and Vada Samons Hopper, he had lived in Charleston most of his life. He was the owner and operator of a service station for many years and was a former bail bondsman before his retirement.
On Sept. 17, 1954, he married Zallie M. “Sue” Slayden, who preceded him in death on April 22, 2018.
Survivors include: two brothers, Chester Hopper of Charleston and Garry Hopper of Martin, Tennessee; three sisters, Eloise Stevens of New Haven, Mississippi, Carolyn Grant of Danville, Illinois, and Marolyn Kay Hopper of Atlanta, Georgia; and one grandson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Darlene Michelle Scott; two brothers, Travey Hopper, Corky Hopper; and his sister, Patsy Slayden.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
