Area sees increase in number of coronavirus active cases

The number of positive COVID-19 cases are increasing in the area.

The Scott County Health Department reported 21 new positive COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

One recovery was also reported by the health department, leaving the county with 131 active cases with 466 recovered. There have been 13 deaths in the county related to the virus.

The Mississippi County Health Department has reported 18 new positive cases in the community since Monday.

The number of active cases in Mississippi County has remained the same at 60 with 53 cases confirmed positive and seven are probable. There have been 156 residents released from isolation.

There are 51 active cases in Stoddard County as three new cases were reported late Thursday. According to the Stoddard County Health Department, 241 have recovered while 10 deaths in the county related to COVID-19 have been reported.

The Dunklin County Health Department reported 101 active cases late Thursday with 360 recovered and seven deaths since the pandemic began in March.

The Pemiscot County Health Center reported 42 active cases late Thursday afternoon with five hospitalizations. There have been 277 residents released from isolation and nine deaths related to the virus.

Cape Girardeau County had the most new cases reported on Thursday with 23. According to the Cape Girardeau Public Health Center there are currently 175 active cases an increase of 11 while 767 have recovered. There have been eight deaths reported in the county.

The New Madrid County Health Department did not have an update as of 2 p.m. Friday.
