Nettie Banks

BERTRAND, Mo. — Nettie Vernell Banks, 89, died Sept. 14, 2020, at her home in Bertrand.

Born May 28, 1931, at Clinton, Kentucky, daughter of the late Henry Clay Bone and Mamie Lee Davis Bone, she was a homemaker and worked over 20 years at the East Prairie Nutrition Center where she was a head cook.

On Oct. 11, 1951, at Piggott, Arkansas, she married George Junior Banks, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Lou Walter; four brothers, Cecil, James, Marvin and Herman Bone; and two sisters, Alice Benton and Shirley Norman.

Survivors include: one sister, Eveline Hendrix of Perryville, Missouri; two sons, David of Fairfax, Virginia, and Keith of Charleston, Missouri; two daughters-in-law, Leslie Banks and Regina Banks; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Graveside services will follow at 2p.m. at the East Prairie Memorial Park in East Prairie. Melvin Sanarazo will officiate.

Burial will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
