Racism comes in all shapes

Racism. Whether it is intentional or through lack of awareness, it is still racism. Many will claim this is fussing about nothing, but pause and think about it. I am talking about the billy goat roaming around Ables Road in Sikeston. Pictures and good humor appeared on Facebook. Then the T-shirt, “Goat Lives Matter.” Where is this phrase captured from? Black Lives Matter. Yes, it probably was unintentional but it is hurtful. It places the two on the same level. Racism can be shuttle like that. I am proud to live in a community that cares and wants positive messages. It shows a caring spirit. I challenge everyone to use that same caring toward our fellow man. One – Be aware of the hurt words can unintentionally cause others. And two – reach out to those different from ourselves, help them feel a part of the caring. We will all be better for it.
