NEW MADRID, Mo. — Larry Joe Drake Sr. passed away Oct. 3, 2020, at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 70 years.
Born Jan. 24, 1950, in Sikeston, Missouri, he was the son of the late Doyle Eugene and Mary Frances Carter Drake.
He was married to Peggy Calton, and she survives of the home.
He was a self-employed mechanic and owner and operator of Joe Drake repairs in New Madrid for 35 years.
He was an animal lover and a great story teller. In his younger years, he loved to drag race, dove and duck hunt, fish, play bass guitar and ride his Harley. Later in life, he loved to go for rides in his Mule with Peggy and his dogs. He always enjoyed being with his family and friends, especially his favorite person, his granddaughter, Hayli.
Survivors include: one son, Larry Joe and Kimberly Drake of Marston, Missouri; one daughter, Shannon and David Howard of Sikeston; one granddaughter, Hayli Howard; two stepgrandchildren, Hayley and Justus Ash; and two sisters, Barbara Davidson and Debbie Reeves.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Jackie, and Ricky Drake.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid with the Travis Lambert officiating.
