SIKESTON — Betty Mae Barnes, age 72, passed away, Oct. 31, 2020, at her home in Sikeston.
She was born Oct. 9, 1948, in Winsfield, Alabama, to the late Noke Dozier and Maylene Tidwell-Dozier.
She was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church and had worked at Unilever before retiring. Barnes was also the Mayor of the City of Miner, Missouri, for many years.
She was married to Harry Barnes, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Chris Barnes of Sikeston; one brother, Gene Dozier of Sikeston; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Ann Barnes; two brothers, James Dozier and Euvion Dozier: and two sisters, Patricia Ann Dozier and Marie Dechauser.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Interment will follow immediately at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
