Floyd Williams

SIKESTON — Floyd Ollis Williams, age 82, passed away Oct. 31, 2020, at his home in Sikeston.

He was born Aug. 31, 1938, in Marianna, Arkansas, to the late David Williams and Odessa Straubie Williams.

On Nov. 27, 1957, in Helena, Arkansas, he married Shirley Ann Gilson, who survives of the home. 

He was known by all as the father of what is now the Sikeston Jaycees Little League Football. He began the league in Sikeston in 1974.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Vince Williams of Sikeston; one daughter, Twyla Bird of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Tyler Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ashley Bird of Sikeston, Nicholas (Jaxon) Bird of Sikeston, Stormie Williams of Sikeston; and one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Wright of Sikeston. 

He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Bruce Bird.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 6, 2020, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Interment will follow at the Dogwood Cemetery in Dogwood, Missouri.
