Bill Davis
SIKESTON — William A. “Bill” Davis, 75, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, at his home near Sikeston.
Born Sept. 5, 1945, in Sikeston, to the late George Cecil Davis and Ocie Marie Holt Davis, he had lived in Sikeston his entire life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. For over 42 years, he was a truck driver for a number of firms last driving for ABF until his retirement. He came out of retirement and went to work at Helena Chemicals from that position in May of 2020. Active in his community, he served as a little league coach a number of years, assisted with 4-H Rodeos and was an avid deer hunter and bowler.
On Oct. 31, 1964, he married Carolyn Janette Turner, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his children, Sherry Lynn (Mike) Propst of Magnolia, Texas, and Mike (Shannon) Davis of Sikeston; his sister, Jackie (Larry) Powell of Sikeston; his grandchildren, Tyler Propst, Trenton Cain, Paige (Ryan) Maddox, Lance Davis, Jacob Cunningham, Samantha, Sarah and Jack Keller; great-grandchildren, Keira, Holdyn, Braedyn and Maci; also, a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a son, Alan Wayne Holt; his brothers, Ralph Davis and Dan Davis and his sister, Betty King.
Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Sikeston. Rev. John Tarter, pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery at Benton under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Trenton, Tyler, Lance, Jacob and Jason Foley and Larry Powell Jr.
