Four additional people have died related to COVID-19 in Scott County.

The Scott County Health Department reported the four deaths Thursday, making six that have died in the last 48 hours and 39 since the pandemic began in March.

There were also 31 new positive cases reported along with 32 recoveries Thursday. Currently there are 668 active cases with 1,660 recoveries.

The health department released a statement on social media Friday regarding people receiving text messages and phone calls from random neighbors saying to call the Scott County Health Department.

“Due to the overwhelming amount of work we are doing with COVID, we do have contact tracers and other workers using cell phones to contact COVID positive people,” the statement said. “We ask that you PLEASE answer these calls and/or call back to that number so that we can give you information regarding your COVID case and quarantine guidelines.”
