SIKESTON — James Hunott, age 79, passed away Dec. 13, 2020, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born April 5, 1941, in Matthews, Missouri, to the late Clarence Virgil and Della Doris (Waters) Hunott. He was a member of the United States Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge.
In 1999 he married Pat Fodge who preceded him in death earlier in the year.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a very active member of the Sikeston Jaycees and a member of the Sikeston Elks Lodge 2319. He had been a truck driver before retiring.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law James (Tracey) Newman of Park Hills, Missouri; one nephew, Steven Allen Hunott; one niece, Pamela Jean Hiett; mother-in-law, Helen Fodge; brother-in-law, Mike (Jeannie) Fodge; four sisters-in-law, Sandy (Lloyd) Hill, Donna (Randy) Tippy, Glenda (Randy) Enderle, and Rita (Brad) Milam; one grandson, Benjamin (Caroline) Newman; 21 nieces and nephews, 33 great-nieces and -nephews and five great-great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Lee Hunott; and one sister, Dora Ann Drago.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m, where funeral service will be Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Pastor Dennis Lowe will officiate.
Interment will follow immediately at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery in Benton, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be: Jarrett Milam, Michael Riley, Scott Hill, Brock Hill, Ben Newman, Chad Towe and Jim Newman.
