NEW MADRID, Mo. — An attempt to settle an ongoing feud took a violent turn Monday evening.
Shamyka Shanee Tucker, 38, of New Madrid is charged with two counts of first degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, discharge/ shoot firearm at a person, motor vehicle, building and first degree property damage. She is scheduled to appear in Division II of New Madrid County Circuit Court at 10 a.m. Thursday.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Sgt. John Dubois with the New Madrid Police Department, officers were dispatched to Blades Drive at 6 p.m. Monday. Tucker told the officer she had driven to Blades Drive because her mother was there in an effort to discuss the ongoing issues between Tucker’s son and two others in the effort to avoid a fight.
When she arrived at the residence, Tucker said her son jumped from the car and ran toward one of those accused of harassing him.
When Tucker ran after her son, she said the individual pulled a handgun and began shooting. She told the officer she saw her son fall to the ground and believed he was shot.
“Tucker stated that she then got her gun and fired approximately four to five rounds,” Dubois wrote in the probable cause.
Two of the rounds fired from Tucker’s Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun went through the front door of the residence striking a lampshade. One round continued through a couch then lodged in a wall and the second round went through a wall and lodged into a wall in the living room.
The officer noted in the probable cause statement that the two individuals, who had allegedly harassed Tucker’s son, had run into the apartment before Tucker began firing her gun.
Also no injuries were listed at the scene in the probable cause statement.
Currently Tucker is being held in the Mississippi County Jail with no bond allowed.
