One is in custody after a man was found shot to death in a Bernie apartment.
According to a release from the Stoddard County Major Case Squad, at 1:54 p.m. Sunday, a Bernie Police Officer was dispatched to 314 Alice Street (314 Bernie Housing) in reference to someone being shot.
When the officer arrived he discovered a male, later identified as Timmy D. Carwile, 62, of Bernie, dead inside of the apartment from an apparent gunshot wound.
A suspect was taken into custody and is currently being held a the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office pending the filing of formal charges.
An autopsy on Carwile is scheduled for Tuesday in Farmington, Missouri.
The Stoddard County Major Case Squad consists of members from the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dexter, Bernie, Bloomfield, Puxico, Advance Police Departments, the Stoddard County Prosecutor’s Office and the Stoddard County Coroner’s Office.
