SIKESTON — Derrick James Ellis, 40, died suddenly Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, while visiting relatives in Phoenix, Arizona.
He was born March 27, 1980, in Sikeston, to the late Mary Ellis-Harris and Danny Jimerson. He attended public schools in Sikeston and worked many years as a cook for several restaurants in the Sikeston and Columbia, Missouri, area.
He is survived by one son, Demetrius Beasley; a sister, Danika Ellis; a brother, Desmond Ellis.; gwo grandchildren; a niece and two nephews. Also surviving are two sisters and three brothers; his grandmother, Mrs. Luebirda Lott; and a special friend, Linda Scott.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at the Freewill Baptist Church in Sikeston. Visitation will begin at noon until time of service at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow at the Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
