NEW HAMBURG, Mo. — One of the most unique traditions of spring in southeast Missouri is back.

After having to cancel in 2020 due to the coronavirus, the 36th Annual Kow Pasture Klassic will return to Schindler’s Tavern in New Hamburg on Saturday.

The Kow Pasture Klassic is a unique game of “golf” that leaves the club choice up to the player.

The “tees” are actually beer cans and the “balls” are tennis balls while players can use anything for a club. Mannequin legs, old hockey sticks, pool sticks, tennis rackets, leaf blowers have all been used as the possibilities are endless. Of course, regular golf clubs work as well.

The event, sponsored by Schindler’s Tavern and Kohlfeld Distributing, will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The posting of the colors will be at noon with an oral auction at 3 p.m.

Entry fee for a team of four is $100 with proceeds benefiting the Missouri Veteran’s Home and the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center. All pre-paid registrants receive a koozie cup and tickets for free beverages and food.

For more information contact Rick Lawson or Judy Younger at Schindler’s Tavern (573) 545-3709 or Mitch Miller at Kohlfeld Distributing (573) 243-3931.
