Charles Ulmer
SIKESTON — Charles Ray Ulmer, age 80,of Sikeston, died Monday July 5, 2021, at WestRidge Place in Sikeston due to complications of dementia.
He was born May 28, 1941, in Marston, Missouri, to J.E. and Cora Ulmer.
On Sept. 1, 1967, he married Lorita Throop Ulmer in Sikeston.
He was a beloved member of the Shady Acres Church of Christ, where he served as a teacher, song leader, deacon, elder and head of countless programs, as well as encouraging projects since 1967.
Charles is survived by his wife; two sons, Andy (Carol) Ulmer of Linden, Tennessee, and Steven Ulmer of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Ulmer, Ellie Ulmer and Charles Ray Ulmer of Linden and Preston and Macy Ulmer of Sikeston; three sisters, Charlene Blackwelder and Jeanie Price of Sikeston and Paulette Cranick of South Fulton, Tennessee; three brothers, Pete Ulmer of Scott City, Missouri, Sterl Kline of Benton, Missouri, and Larry Ulmer of Troy, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ed Ulmer; and one brother-in-law, Mark Throop.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the funeral hour at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2021, at the Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston. Manly Luscombe and family members will officiate.
Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens of Morley at 9 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Andy Ulmer, Steven Ulmer, Preston Ulmer, Charlie Ulmer, Larry Ulmer, Sterl Kline and Eddie Throop.
