Louis Macklin
CHARLESTON, Mo. — Louis Macklin, 83, died Thursday, July 1, 2021, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born April 6, 1938 in East Prairie, Missouri. He was the proud son of Harrison and Emma Epps.
He attended East Prairie High School in East Prairie.
Louis was a faithful member of The Oasis Church, formerly known as Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, in Kansas City under the leadership of Pastor Michael E. Brooks. He loved the Lord.
He retired from Armco Steel after many years of service.
Louis and Bernether were married in 1968 and remained married until God called her home on July 14, 2016.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Bernether Macklin, and two sisters, Dorothy Jefferson and Queen Esther Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Micah (Audra) Macklin of Overland Park, Kansas; two daughters, Dorothy Macklin-Hurt of Bristow, Virginia, and LaDonna (Timothy) Powells of Blue Springs, Missouri; four brothers, Joseph Epps and James (Rose) Epps of Indianapolis, Indiana, Robert “Bobby” Epps, Willie Earl Epps both of Charleston, Missouri, and Charles (Wanda) Epps of Chillicothe, Missouri; two sisters, Ida (Larry) Ellison of Memphis, Tennessee, and Mildred (Joe) Jones of Jackson, Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Hailey Hurt, Isaiah Hurt, Belinda (Jalon) Haulcy, Diamond Brown, Aspen Macklin, Ansley Macklin, and Aubree Macklin, six great-grandchildren, Janie, Christian, Carissa, Sabrina, Angel and London; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 9, 2021, at noon at Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston with Pastor Michael Brooks officiating.
The Williams Funeral Homes of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
