PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Ramona Lee Byrd Dunn was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Sikeston, Missouri, and passed away Sept. 17, 2021, at Perryville Memorial Hospital.
Ramona Lee was the daughter of Horace and Margaret Robinson Byrd. In 1973 she married Richard L. 'Dick" Dunn of Houston, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Banks and Alan Joe Byrd; and stepson, Richard L. Dunn Jr.
Survived by siblings, Harriet Ward, John (Peggi) Byrd, Linda (Ted) Cookman; sister-in-law, Paula Byrd; stepchildren, Kelly Dunn, Casey Dunn, Susan Harris; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ramona Lee earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University during which time she was a sister in the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. Her teaching career took her to Hazelwood, Missouri, Okinawa, Japan, Chicago, Illinois, Venezuela, Ecuador, and St. Louis, Missouri. After living abroad for many years, she returned home to the U.S. in 1994 after the death of her husband. Upon retirement from teaching, she became an avid volunteer at the St. Louis Arch and the Perryville Senior Center. Ramona Lee will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by many friends and loved ones from around the world. As per her wishes, she will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
