SIKESTON — Norma Griffin, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, at 9:20 a.m. at her daughter’s home in Sikeston.

Norma was born to the late Knox and Grace Gillham on Sept. 30, 1932, in McNairy County, Tennessee.

Norma worked for Sikeston Public Schools as a secretary for the Food Service Director, Dorothy Lawrence, for 31 years. Norma was a former member of Temple Baptist Church where she served the church faithfully as church clerk, hospitality committee member as well as Sunday school teacher.

On Dec. 26, 1955, at Landers Ridge, Missouri, she married John Griffin Jr., who preceded her in death in March of 2007. They celebrated 51 years of marriage together.

John and Norma had two children, Joy Lawrence (John) Graham of Sikeston and Stanley (Sheri) Griffin of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Dawn (Jeremy) Hunt, Summer (Stephen) Elliott, Stephanie (Jeremy) Capel, Samantha (Kyle) Stringfellow, John Vernon Lawrence and Adam (Megan) Lawrence; several great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ben Capel, Kaelyn, Ryan and Jaxen Hunt, Matthew Elliott, Madison, Emily, Griffin and Faith Stringfellow, Loralee, Kylen and Theodore Lawrence and Hanna and Emma Graham.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with Norma’s son, Brother Stan Griffin, officiating.

A private burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Elliott, Jeremy Capel, Kyle Stringfellow, Jeremy Hunt and Adam Lawrence.

Honorary Pallbearers will be John Graham and John Lawrence.
