I have a new niece and she is 10 years old. Her name is Halley and I want to share with you about her.
She came to my brother and sister-in-law from a very difficult situation as a foster kid. They decided to move forward with adopting Halley.
Last week our family went to the courtroom and there was a short hearing about the adoption. At the end, the judge declared that she was now Halley Linda Vroman and my brother and sister in law’s daughter.
This was a beautiful picture of salvation or when Jesus saves us.
John 1:12- “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
When you believe in Christ, you become a child of God. One of the most emotional moments from that day was when my dad gave his new granddaughter a bracelet with her new name on it. I told her, when you start to get scared and think bad thoughts look at the bracelet and read the name and remember that’s who she is. Then I told her to remember who she was and realize that no one can take her away. God is like that as he proclaims our new life is secure and can never be taken away.
John 10:28- “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.’’
A lot of our stress in the Christian life is doubting the relationship God has securely given us. If you are someone that’s Christian life is like a roller coaster, make sure you understand that this relationship will never end. You can’t do anything to lose it as it is held on the finished work of Jesus Christ.
On another note, pray and ask if God might be calling you to adopt or foster? There are so many children that can use this and there is such a big need as there are over 10,000 kids in foster care in Missouri. You can learn more at www.mbch.org.
