EP Chamber plans 12 days of Christmas activities

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — The East Prairie Chamber of Commerce is working to give its residents 12 days of Christmas family fun this year.

Cyndi Norton, director of the East Prairie Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber decided to organize a new event this year and came up with the 12 days of Christmas.

“We have an activity planned each day from Dec. 1-12, Norton said.

Some activities are free of charge and some cost a few dollars, Norton said.

The Chamber is also selling T-shirts this year with the theme of “12 Days of Christmas, Norton said, adding residents seem excited about the activities planned.

The fun begins Dec. 1 when there will be the Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m. at the gazebo. Families are invited to hang their favorite ornaments on the tree. The Christmas parade will follow the next day at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2 with lineup at 4:15 p.m.

On Dec. 3, a community Christmas caroling is planned with everyone who is interested in participating meeting at 6 p.m. at the gazebo.

The Frosty Feet Frolic 5k run will begin at 8 a.m. Dec. 4 at Body FX building (gym). Participants can register online at frostyfeetfrolic.com.

Then on Dec. 5, there will be a community scavenger hunt at 2 p.m. at the gazebo.

Pictures with Santa will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Top of the Town. Attendees will receive a free 4-by-6 print; all ages are welcome.

Dec. 7 will be Taco Tuesday with a taco food truck offering $1.99 tacos from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Don Manuel (Body FX Building).

On the eighth day of Christmas, there will be a Christmas story reading at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the East Prairie Library; free refreshments will also be served.

On Dec. 9, there will be a paint party starting at 7 p.m. at the Church of God Family Life Center where participants can paint their own door hanger for $10. Tickets are required in advance and available at the Chamber office.

Family fun night is the theme for the 10th day of Christmas in East Prairie. There will be free crafts and games from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Family Life Center. There will also be a morning of family fun from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dec. 11 at the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church.

The 12 days of Christmas will conclude with an “All About the Baby” children’s program at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at the First Church of God.
