Ken Bowman
BERTRAND, Mo. — Kenneth A. “Ken” Bowman, 72, of Bertrand, died Dec. 5, 2021, after a courageous 20-month battle with liver and kidney cancer. He died peacefully at his home with his family at his side.
Ken was born Jan. 4, 1949, in Cairo, Illinois, to the late Haskell and Blanche Krauss Bowman, and lived in Mississippi County, Missouri, his entire life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol S. Gentry.
Ken was a 1966 graduate of Charleston High School, and was employed by Noranda Aluminum for 36 years. Ken and Kay were the owners of Ken’s Taxidermy Studio in Bertrand for over 30 years. He was an avid gun enthusiast, and had a wealth of information on firearms. He enjoyed attending gun shows with friends, target shooting, hunting and Corvettes. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston.
On June 3, 1972, he married Brenda Kay Davidson who survives of the home. Ken was the proud father of two children, Rob Bowman of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Katie (Brett) Taylor of Charleston, Missouri. Ken also had many beloved nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Southeast Health Oncology and the nurses of Southeast Health Palliative Care and Southeast Health Hospice for their caring, kindness, and dedicated service they provided to Ken and his family during his fight.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at McMikle Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Wimberley officiating.
Burial will be at the I.O.O.F Cemetery at Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Kyle Duke, Billy Taylor, Steven Hodges. Rick Givens, Jerry Jordan and Jeff Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Bruce Taylor, Kem Marks, Larry Brown, Ernie Brown, Charles Kasper and Bob Strait.
