Caruthersville man dies in late Friday crash

HAYTI, Mo. — A Caruthersville, Missouri, man was killed after he was ejected from his vehicle late Friday in Pemiscot County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports at 8:35 p.m. on Missouri 84, two miles east of Hayti, as the westbound vehicle driven by Marc J. Travis, 28, of Caruthersville struck a utility pole lying in the road. Travis’ vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, overturning and ejecting Travis.

Travis and his passenger, Christina L. Sampley, 34, of Caruthersville, who received moderate injuries, were transported by private vehicle to Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital, where Travis was pronounced dead at 12:44 a.m. Saturday.
