SIKESTON — Loving mother, musician, court reporter and retired teacher, Penny Terrell, passed away on Dec. 11, 2021, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston after a 25-year battle with Lupus.
Visitation will be held at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19. Because of COVID, the family requests that visitors wear a mask. A private service will be held at a future date.
Penny was born in Sikeston on June 11, 1946, to Franny and Paul Heckemeyer. She attended schools in Sikeston and graduated from the University of Missouri. Upon graduation, she moved to New Orleans and taught school and piano. Penny obtained a master’s degree in counseling from Loyola University. She met her husband, Timothy Terrell, in New Orleans, and they had two children, Celeste and Jon Paul.
Penny moved to Sikeston in 1983, where she raised her children and became a Certified Court Reporter. Penny enjoyed volunteering for numerous community organizations and served as a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Southeast Missouri. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Penny is preceded in death by her parents, Franny and Paul Heckemeyer.
Ms. Terrell is survived by her daughter, Celeste Rudloff (Brian); her son, Jon Paul Terrell (Julieanne); brother, Tony Heckemeyer (Betty); sisters, Vicky Firth and Anne Marshall (Dan); grandchildren, Charles Rudloff, Nicholas Rudloff, Savannah Terrell, Wyatt Terrell, Ellie Terrell, and Theodore Terrell; nieces and nephews, Joe Heckemeyer (Kim), Matt Heckemeyer, Bess Heckemeyer, Andrew Heckemeyer (Holly), Sarah Heckemeyer, Ben Lindsey (Jana), Quentin Lindsey (Martha), Gabe Marshall and Tess Marshall.
