Ray Merrick Sr.
MOREHOUSE, Mo.— Ray Elbert Merrick Sr., age 79, passed away Jan. 30, 2022, at his home in Morehouse.
On Aug. 25, 1943, in Charter Oak, Missouri, he was born to the late Edward Dewey and Erma Isabel Malone Merrick.
In 1958, in Sikeston, Missouri, he married Barbara Jeanette Merrick who survives of the home in Sikeston.
Ray worked for Sikeston Department of Public Safety No. 11 for 10 years until his retirement.
He is also survived by one son, Ray Jr. (Andrea) Merrick of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jacob (Samantha) Merrick of Sikeston, Timothy Merrick of Sikeston and Rachel (Kenneth) Durbin of Portageville, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Addison Merrick of Sikeston, Brantley Merrick of Sikeston, Emma Durbin of Portageville. and Kolton Durbin of Portageville.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Donald K. Merrick.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Visitation at 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Curtis True, pastor of Church On The Rock in Morehouse, officiating.
