1 John 4:10-11: Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
It’s February and love is in the air (Valentine’s Day). When we think about that we no doubt can picture in our brain a person with little hearts around them. The issue is to think about what is love.
In relationships, like marriage, we have people who say they fell out of love and don’t love the person anymore. Unfortunately, that ultimately reveals a lack of knowledge about what love is. What I mean by that is love is a decision and not always a feeling.
If you are needing a word picture of this look at the passage that explained about love. God would be the highest example of love. Notice what characterizes love.
First, action which means I do something for the person I love.
Second, true love comes to a person loved even regardless if they deserve or not.
Third, love produces propitiation or satisfaction of the people’s relationship.
The greatest cure for a person who says he has no love or fell out of love is to love like God. Notice that the answer is what will we do with the Son Jesus Christ? Will we accept his love?
