PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — Nolan Newman Newcomb passed away at home on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, after battling lung cancer.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1958, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He grew up in Lawrence, Michigan, and graduated in 1976. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for 14 years. He then went on to be an over-the-road trucker for 24 years until illness sidelined him. He loved portraying Santa at local venues because of the joy it brought to others. He loved his family and an occasional trip to the casino.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Velma Newcomb; his son, Blaine Newcomb; two brothers, Gerald and Donald; and two sisters, Darlena and Brenda Joyce.

Survivors include: his lifetime partner, Steve Mackay; sons, Lloyd (Sarah) and Edward; grandson, Grayson Newcomb and granddaughter, Raenah Dzioba; brothers, James (Lin), Lloyd (Sandra), Duncan and Edward (Kim); sisters, Barbara Hughes, Wanda Cagle, Debra Cowin (David), Mary Crouch, Starlena Claggett, Anna Tuck (Larry); and a host of friends and extended family.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 12 at the Community Center, 105 W. Main St., in Portageville.

A military service was held Feb. 10 at Bloomfield, Missouri, Cemetery.
