Mary Foster

NEW MADRID, Mo. — Mary Elizabeth Foster was born on July 6, 1956, in New Madrid to Lloyd and Daisy Wade. Her parents; her brother, Lloyd Wade Jr.; her sister, Alice Wade; and son, Jeffrey Foster preceded her in death. Mary transitioned into glory on Feb. 19, 2022.

Mary professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a lifetime member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in New Madrid, where she served as an usher and choir member. She was charged with ministering two special songs; “I Love to Call on the Name of Jesus” and “He Has Done Great things for Me.” Her favorite scripture was John 14:1-4. She loved her church family and would render her assistance to the ministry in any way that she was able.

Mary graduated from New Madrid High School in 1974 and immediately entered the workforce. Mary worked the majority of her life. She held various positions in occupations such as early childhood care, retail, home health and hospitality. Mary had a reputation for being a dependable worker who provided quality service to those whom she worked for.

Mary enjoyed her television shows: “The Price Is Right,” “The Young & the Restless,” “Gunsmoke” and the news were her just a few of her favorites as she watched them on a regular basis. If you ever came over to her house, you would find her sitting in her favorite chair and tuning in to her television entertainment If you stayed long enough, you would even hear her reciting the actor’s lines with them as she had watched the reruns so many times.

Mary LOVED her family and friends and adored receiving their love and attention in return. She was loved and respected for her transparency and “tell it like it is” approach in life. She will be remembered for her facial expressions and how she could communicate without saying a word.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, Anthony (Sheri) Foster, Darren (Teresa) Foster and Jeremy James; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at noon Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in New Madrid.

Richards Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
