Smith, McClain named SHS Students of the Month for March

SIKESTON — Leilani Smith and Gary Allen McClain were named Sikeston High School Students of the Month for March

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation, which sponsors the monthly program, names two seniors each month for the honor during the 2021-2022 school year.

Smith is the daughter of Nicole Logan and Roman Smith. She is the student body president for Student Council and secretary of the National Honor Society. She is also active in varsity volleyball, Link Crew, Inspired, Skills USA, Red Peppers and the A+ Program. The owner of Leilani’s Dream Dresses, the high school senior also donates to the Bulldog Pantry. After graduation, she plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and major in nursing. In her spare time, Smith said she likes volunteering, playing volleyball, pageantry, baking, dancing and painting.

McClain, who is the son of Shawn McClain and Dana McClain, is active in the Bums. His hobbies include hunting waterfowl, floating Current River and sleeping. He plans to attend Missouri University of Science and Technology, or S&T, in Rolla where he will major in engineering management.
