No for permanent daylight saving time

I don’t want permanent daylight saving time. Forcing people to spend any significant part of their working hours in pitch blackness for months on end is not something good for them. Early shift workers spending as much as one third of their work day in darkness is a safety issue. Sending children off to school in the bitter, black cold, to await a sunrise by third period of their school day is dangerous and inimical to learning.

Remember Matthew 6:1

I always get a little sick when I see a politician, or self promoter, or TV personality push to say the grace or pray publicly before a crowd or always mention God for us to hear. It reminds me of a Bible saying, Matthew 6:1. “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them.”

We need Trump back

I’d like to speak out on this man or woman or whoever it is that keeps getting on here talking against President Trump and the Republicans. Haven’t you had enough of Biden, the weak one? What is wrong with you people? It looks like you’d have had enough of him. He’s nothing but an old man. He’s a coward. If we had Trump in there right now our country wouldn’t be like this, ok? Why don’t you go get educated and listen to the news and listen to what’s going on. Diarrhea of the mouth is what I call it because if Trump was in there right now we wouldn’t be in this mess.

Solution to your problem

If you problems with dry eyes, you probably need to drink a lot more water. That was a solution to my dry eye problem.

Too many semi trucks

There are way to many semi trucks on the highway now. That’s probably what caused the accident Thursday. I notice in the paper I saw all those vehicles. I saw on TV they’re all semi trucks and very few cars. The semis probably caused the wreck because they don’t stop and they are too aggressive.

Proud of girls, too

I was proud to see they included the New Madrid County cheerleaders in the picture in the paper honoring the basketball boys finishing third in competition. But I still haven’t seen any recognition of the cheerleaders who won first and second place in different divisions in Springfield, Missouri, about a month ago. These girls work just as much as the boys and have just as much, if not more, athletic ability as the boys. Could the boys to backflips, pyramids and all the things these girls do? Like I said, I’m proud of the boys, but I’m also proud of the girls and I think they should be pictured and praised for their accomplishments. This is signed a grandmother who believes in equal recognition of the hard work of the girls.

Again, we have not received any information from the school about the cheerleading competition. If something is submitted, we would be happy to run it in our paper, just like we have other schools who competed and won in cheerleading competitions. Talk to your granddaughter’s coach, athletic director or New Madrid County administration and have them send information to us.

Be careful who you vote for

This is a message for the citizens of Sikeston. Be very careful when voting for school board candidates. We don’t need a school member that is interested in promoting the ideology of only one group of people.
