SIKESTON — Roger Garza, 55, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones, at his home in Sikeston.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1966, in St Charles, Illinois, to Rogerio Garza and the late Kathy Taylor.

Roger graduated from NMCC in 1985 and started his career as a driver and went on to work for Best Sanitation for 27 years. He also enjoyed co owning and being a DJ alongside Michael Hart with Rockin the Mic.

Roger was best known for coaching softball and the local little leagues for many generations of Mathews and was an active member of the Big Prairie Jaycees. He loved teaching all the kids around town how to hunt and brought much joy and many memories to all that knew him. He never met a stranger.

In addition to his father, he is survived by one daughter, Kindra Garza; and one son Austin (Alexis) Garza; two sisters, Darla Sanders and Marla (Charles) Wasson; and one brother, Rick (Tina) Garza. Roger also wanted to recognize two special families, Michael (Sheena) Quinten Hart, Jake (Blair) Liam Moore for their love and the Morgan family for continuing to be there for his two children.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 2 p.m. with Brother Chris Polk officiating.

Interment will follow immediately at the Matthews Cemetery, Matthews, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be: Steven Lynn, Scottie Spraggs, Rob Cooksey, Emroy Oliver, Chris Hart and Danny Bond.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Asa Busby, Tanner Fritz, Mario Dye, Derek McKown, Austin Garza and Michael Hart.
