James Kegley
SIKESTON — James Myron Kegley, age 88, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at his home in Sikeston.
On Jan. 8, 1934, in Clarkton, Missouri, he was born to the late Odell and Lela Shelton Kegley.
In Hernando, Mississippi, on Sept. 21, 1956, he married Shirley Miller who survives of the home.
James was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He and Shirley moved to Sikeston in 1952, making this their home for the last 40 years.
He is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston and greatly loved golf along with his beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.
In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Shelby Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, and James “Babe” and Verna Miller of Jonesboro, Tennessee; and one sister, JoAnn and Wallace Christian of St. Louis; and two very special Godsons, Erik and Shawn Alberson of Sikeston.
James was known and loved as the “Favorite Uncle” by numerous nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his two brother, Darwin and Perry Kegley.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Sikeston. Pastor Jennifer Moxley will officiate.
There will be a private inurnment at a later date.
