Woman charged with drug possession
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On the afternoon of May 11, an officer saw a woman driving a truck near Scott Street and Highway 61. Recognizing the driver, he knew her driver’s license was revoked and stopped the truck when the woman pulled out of a gas station.
The officer spoke with the driver and noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the truck. He searched the inside of the truck and found a small amount of marijuana along with a small bag containing methamphetamine. The woman was placed under arrest and later charged with possession of a controlled substance.
On the morning of May 23, a car pulled into the parking lot of the police department and the driver wanted to speak to an officer.
The man said his adult son, who was in the passenger seat, had just punched him in the face while they were arguing. The man’s nose was bleeding and he had a long scratch down the left side of his face.
The officer walked outside and placed the passenger under arrest for domestic assault. The man was arrested for stealing from his father on May 16 and charges are pending in that case.
