Youngsters learn basics at football camp

NEW MADRID, Mo. - The start of New Madrid County Central High School’s football season is still months away but there was plenty of football action Friday as 21 youngsters took part in New Madrid County Central High School’s Youth Football Camp.

Camp participants had the opportunity to learn both offense and defense. They practiced their stances, starts, passing and tackling, according to Tyler Fullhart, NMCC’s head football coach.

Joining Fullhart in teaching the youngsters were coaches Jake Kimball and Jonathan Hadder along with 18 high school players.

“I like the players to participate. It is an opportunity for them to teach the next generation,” he said. “For the younger ones it is an opportunity to make a connection. When they come to see a football game next fall it will be more than a name or number of the field, they will remember seeing that player, that they drilled together.”
