Taylor named Missouri Lawyer’s Media ICON

SIKESTON — Sikeston attorney Stephen L. Taylor has been recognized as a member of the 2022 Missouri ICON Class by Missouri Lawyer’s Media.

The ICON Awards, launched in 2018, are awarded to the top attorneys age 60 and older in recognition of their exemplary careers and longstanding commitment to the Missouri legal community. Taylor will be recognized because of his results representing workers compensation clients for over 40 years and his service to the legal profession and the Sikeston community.

The 2022 class honorees were recognized Wednesday in St. Louis. The honorees consisted of attorneys who are members of the plaintiff’s bar, defense bar, workers compensation bar, U.S. senators and judges.

Taylor’s many accomplishments include being recognized as one of the Nation’s Top Worker’s Compensation Attorneys. He has also served as president of the Sikeston Jaycees, president of the Sikeston Lions Club, President of the Sikeston Jaycee Rodeo, President of Sikeston Chamber of Commerce, President of American Legion Baseball, Chairman of Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities, Chairman of Okeechokee District Boy Scouts of America, Chairman of Sikeston Veteran’s Committee, and as a member of many other Sikeston Area organizations.

Taylor is a lifelong resident of Sikeston having graduated from Sikeston High School in 1965. He received a B.A. Degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1969 and he graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree in Law from the University of Missouri in 1972. He also served as a captain the U. S. Army Reserve.

In addition to receiving the prestigious ICON Award, Taylor has also been awarded the Sikeston Jaycee of the Year, Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award, Sikeston Honors Board Recipient, Sikeston Chamber of Commerce “Man of the Year” and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from Lion’s International Foundation. Taylor continues to serve his workers compensation clients on a daily basis.
