Jimmy Dale Dovers

AUSTIN, Texas — Jimmy Dale Dovers, 81, died July 23, 2022, at St. David’s Hospital in Austin.

He was born May 25, 1941, in Gray Ridge, Missouri, to the late Harvey and Marie Purcell Dovers.

The family moved to Sikeston in 1943. He was a Sikeston Bulldog and supporter. He entered the military in 1959 and loved serving his country. Recently he went back to visit where he was stationed in Germany.

He worked at Hart’s Bakery and moved to Austin around 1962. He owned and operated his own business. He was one great salesman an loved selling. He was a little league coach and member of the Lions Club. He was a bowler his entire life and under stressful situations he always came through.

He was the life of the party with his jokes and humor. He will be missed by many of his friends and relatives.

On June 16, 2003, he married Debra Slezak who survives of the home in Bastrop, Texas.

Siblings Earnest Dovers of Benson, Arizona; Barbara Lewandowsky of Lewisville, Texas; Lanna Whitworth of Sikeston; Eddie Dovers of Manchaca, Texas and Bobby Dovers of Sikeston also survive.

He was also survived by one son by a previous marriage, Jimmy Dale Dovers Jr. of Knoxville, Tennessee and other survivors: Ambre Kirkman of Rockport, Texas, Ashley Sangillo of Austin, Texas; Edward Slezak of Bastrop, Texas; Aaren Slezak of Austin, Texas and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel Dovers.

The Rev. Drew Bales of the First Baptist Church of Elroy will be officiating the service that has yet to be scheduled.
