Tetley wins crowded field for presiding commissioner; Cobb wins prosecuting attorney race; Mason re-elected as recorder of deeds

BENTON, Mo. — Scott County will have a new presiding commissioner and prosecuting attorney in the new year.

Because there were only Republican candidates in the county races, these offices were decided during Tuesday’s Primary Election.

In the Republican race for presiding commissioner, Danny Tetley, 2,437 votes, defeated incumbent Jim Glueck, 1,458 votes; Monty W. Keesee, 872 votes; and Larry J. McClain, 394 votes.

With a difference of only two votes, Donald Cobb defeated incumbent Amanda L. Oesch in a vote of 2,581 votes to 2,579 votes in the race for prosecuting attorney.

Incumbent Tara L. Mason, who received 4,044 votes, defeated her challenger, John R. Scott, who netted 1,070 votes, in her bid for another term as recorder of deeds.

Voters in Scott County also approved a county sales tax of one-half of 1% to fund existing operational costs for the county’s emergency 911 phone and dispatch services. There were 3,056 votes in favor of the tax and 2,591 votes against it.

Running unopposed on the Republican ticket — and countywide — were the following candidates: Blake Pearson, Associate Circuit Judge, Division 4, who received 4,325 votes; Zac Horack, Associate Circuit Judge, Division 5, who garnered 4,236 votes; Allen Seabaugh, county clerk, 4,232 votes; Stacey Naile, circuit clerk, 4,292 votes; Joe Bill Davis, treasurer, 4,249 votes; and Mark Hensley, collector of revenue, 4,537 votes.

STATE RACE RESULTS

Republican ballot

The following candidates received the Scott County votes in the race for U.S. Senator: Eric Schmitt, 2,654 votes; Eric Greitens, 1,438 votes; Vicky Hartzler, 700 votes; Mark McCloskey, 87 votes; Patrick A. Lewis, 85 votes; Billy Long, 56 votes; Bernie Mowinski, 13 votes; C.W. Gardner, 15 votes; Deshon Porter, 8 votes; Dave Sims, 12 votes; Eric McElroy, 11 votes; Dennis Lee Chilton, 2 votes; Robert Allen, 16 votes; Dave Schatz, 15 votes; Hartford Tunnell, 7 votes; Kevin C. Schepers, 4 votes; Rickey Joiner, 8 votes; Robert Olson, 11 votes; Russel Pealer Breyfogle Jr., 4 votes; Darrell Leon McClanahan III, 7 votes; and Curtis D. Vaughn, 19 votes.

In the race for the Republican candidate for state auditor, Scott County voters opted for Scott Fitzpatrick, 2,902 votes, over David Gregory, 1,686 votes.

In the race for the Eighth District U.S. representative, voters preferred incumbent Jason Smith, 4,385 votes, over Jacob Turner, 723 votes.

Current state representative for the 148th District, Jamie Burger, was unopposed and received 4,471 votes.

Democratic ballot

The following Democratic candidates running for U.S. senator received the following Scott County votes: Lucas Kunce, 170 votes; Trudy Busch Valentine, 114 votes; Carla Coffee Wright, 88 votes; Lewis Rolen, 27 votes; Gena Ross, 39 votes; Josh Shipp, 13 votes; Spencer Toder, 26 votes; Jewel Kelly, 23 votes; Clarence “Clay” Taylor, 13 votes; Pat Kelly, 23 votes; and Ronald “Ron” William Harris, 21 votes.

Running unopposed on the Democratic ballot were Alan Green, state auditor, 497 votes; and Randi McCallian, Eighth District U.S. representative, 515 votes.

Libertarian ballot

Running unopposed on the Libertarian ballot were Jonathan Dine, U.S. senator, 4 votes; John A. Hartwig Jr., state auditor, 3 votes; and Jim Higgins, Eighth District U.S. representative, 3 votes.

Constitution ballot

Running unopposed on the Constitution ballot was Paul Venable, U.S. senator. He received zero Scott County votes.
