Billie Barnes
SIKESTON — Billie Frances Barnes, age 81, passed away on Aug. 14, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
She was born on May 28, 1941, in Sikeston, to the late James “Rat” and Adoline “Addie” Simpson Marshall.
On May 29, 1959, in Jackson, Missouri, she married Jimmy Barnes who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2017.
Billie was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. She retired from the Missouri Division of Employment Security in 2002 after 26 years of service; she was a member of the Sikeston Red Peppers from 1954-1958. Following high school, she attended Southeast Missouri State on a music scholarship for the flute.
Survivors include: two sons, Jasper (LeAnn) Barnes of Olathe, Kansas, and Michael (Jennifer) Barnes of Sikeston; one daughter, Alice (Greg) Boyd of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Bailey Barnes of Houston, Texas, Jaden Barnes of Gordonville, Missouri, Jamie Barnes of Kansas City, Missouri, and Evan Boyd of Sikeston.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Marshall.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Sikeston with Jennifer Moxley, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sikeston City Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Randy Hicks, Jerry Bryant, David Haley, Doug Grojean, Carl Eftink and Steve Green.
