12 to represent area high schools in Miss Cotton Carnival

SIKESTON —Twelve area high school students will compete for the title of Miss Cotton Carnival at 1:30 p.m. Saturday during the annual American Legion Cotton Carnival at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds.

Miss Cotton Carnival is open to 10th and 11th grade Sikeston High School students and 9th-12th grade students from area high schools.

Caroline Blanton, 15-year-old daughter of Kevin and Amy Blanton, is a sophomore at Sikeston High School. A varsity cheerleader and varsity soccer player, she is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, Red Peppers, Student Council, DECA, Concert Band, FBLA, Foreign Language Club and A-teamer. Her favorite subjects in school are math and English.

A freshman at Campbell High School, Reese Carr is the 14-year-old daughter of Kendra and Jason Carr. She is active in volleyball and cheerleading, and she participates in FCCLA, FCA, Beta Club, FFA and Student Council where she is a class officer. History and English are her favorite subjects.

The daughter of Kent and Kyleigh Chappell, 18-year-old Kinleigh Chappell is a senior at Dexter High School. She is a member of the varsity softball team, Beta Club, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, FCCLA and Future Health Professionals. Her favorite subjects in school are biomedical innovations and college calculus.

Rylee Corlew, 15, is the daughter of Ryan and Jessica Lee and a junior at Dexter High School. Her school activities include Honors Choir, varsity football cheer, Kickin’ Cats Dance Team and JV golf, and she participates in Senior Beta Club. She listed math as her favorite subject.

The 16-year-old daughter of Rebecca and Rickey Byers of Sikeston, Savannah Finney is a junior at Missouri Connections Academy (online). Her activities include Leadership Club, Writing Club and volunteering. Her favorite subject is English.

Olivia Gadberry, a junior at Sikeston High School, is the 16-year-old daughter of Tim and Mindy Gadberry. Her school activities include varsity softball, varsity soccer, varsity cheerleaders, Red Peppers, Inspired presenter and A+ Program. Graphic arts is her favorite subject in school.

Landry Johnson, 16-year-old daughter of Mike and Ashley Adams and Justin Johnson, is a junior at Charleston High School. Her school activities include varsity softball, FFA officer, FCA, FTA, yearbook, Key Club and FBLA. She did not list a favorite subject in school.

A sophomore at Sikeston High School, Kylin Laffoon, 16, is the daughter of Steve and Ryann Addison. Her activities include: cheerleading, varsity track team, College Ambassadors, Red Peppers, Key Club and FCA. Art is her favorite subject.

Michaiahes Mays, who is the 16-year-old daughter of Cynthia Davis, is a sophomore at Sikeston High School. Her school activities include dance, Red Peppers and serving as a College Ambassador. History and English are her favorite subjects in school.

A junior at Sikeston High School, 16-year-old Emma Michael is the daughter of Constance Ditto and Charles Michael. She is active in the Sikeston Dance Team, Foreign Language Club, orchestra (7th-10th grades), and she takes dual credit courses. Spanish, biomedical science and world history are her favorite subjects.

Chloe Walker, 14-year-old daughter of Jodie Walker and Brandon Clark, is a freshman at Bell City High School. She is a varsity cheerleader, volleyball player and competes in track and field. English, especially creative writing, are her favorite subjects.

The 16-year-old daughter of Corey and Deniece Wallace, Brooklyn Wallace is a sophomore at Sikeston High School. She is active in the Red Peppers, marching band and symphonic band. She listed Spanish as her favorite subject.
