CHARLESTON, Mo. — Beverly June Jones died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022. She was born May 8, 1961, in Charleston, to the late Sullivan Cassell and Ardell Walker Straughter. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Lee Straughter, Sherwood Cross and Herman Straughter; two sisters, Ruth Ann Sanford and Wilma Jean Straughter; and one grandson, Lamontaye Williams Jr.

She graduated from Charleston High School in Charleston.

Beverly had her own personal relationship with God. She attended Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston. Her favorite saying was, “God Got Me,” and she truly believed that.

She loved music. In her free time, Beverly loved to cook and clean. She enjoyed cleaning chitterlings and barbecuing in the snow. Beverly had a big heart. She loved helping people and bringing food to help serve at funerals. If you saw her sitting, you knew something was wrong. She was happiest at family gatherings and spending time with her grandbabies who she loved dearly. Beverly will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories three sons, Gerard Walker of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jeremiah (Damisha) Jones and Jamal Jones both of Tallahassee, Florida; her two daughters, Ebony Hamilton and Burnadett Jones both of Sikeston, Missouri; her stepchildren, Marcus Jones of Bloomington, Illinois, and Danielle Hart of El Paso, Texas; her brothers, Donnie (Gloria) Straughter of Charleston and Marshall (Denise) Straughter of Memphis, Tennessee, her sisters, Clara Johnson, Margaret Helen Hassel, and Lillie Lawrence all of St. Louis, Missouri, Ava Hodges of Dallas, Texas, Leona Jackson of Paducah, Kentucky, and Georgia Riggens, Elizabeth Williams, Ruby (Alvin) Scott, and Ella Jackson all of Charleston; 25 grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at noon until the funeral hour of 1 p.m. at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston with Pastor Arthur Cassell officiating.
