Doris Sanders
CHARLESTON, Mo. — Doris M. Coffer Sanders, age 86, of Charleston died Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Mississippi County, Missouri, to the late John Kelly Hinkle and Marie Beatrice Ash Hinkle. She had lived in Charleston most of her life and had been employed with Bertrand Nursing Center a number of years and the Focus Bank in Charleston for over 20 years until her retirement. Doris loved to dance and sing. She was a past president of the Sikeston Elks Club Women’s Auxiliary.
On Feb. 28, 1953, she married George Whitaker “Dub” Coffer who preceded her in death on May 17, 2007. She then married Edward Lee “Ed” Sanders, who survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Steve Coffer and Garry Coffer both of Sikeston; her stepdaughter, Karen Hovey of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also, several nieces and nephews survive.
In addition to her first husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Coffer; and her brothers and sisters, Herman Hinkle, Floyd Hinkle, Howard Hinkle, Eugene Hinkle, Pauletta Goad and Evelyn Luhning.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until time for memorial services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Dean Wallace will officiate.
