Bruce Johnson
SIKESTON – Bruce Omal Johnson, age 60, passed away Oct. 16, 2022, at his home in Sikeston.
He was born March 17, 1962, in Sikeston, son of Elmer "Sonny" L. Johnson and Norma Jewell White Garner.
He completed his High School education from Big Bend Community College of the State of Washington while serving in the United States Army, Company D, 9th Infantry Division, 15th Engineer Battalion (Combat). He received an Honorable Discharge in February 1986 at which time he returned to Sikeston to work with his Dad for Johnson House Movers Inc.
He was raised in the Assembly of God Church in Sikeston, where all of his grandparents attended. He was of strong faith. Also, a member of the American Legion Post 114. He was a motorcycle and car enthusiast.
Bruce is survived by his stepmother, Malinda Johnson; one sister, Tammy (Elven) Baker; niece, Myka Dockins; and great-niece, Davy Williams; stepsister, Michelle Fayette; two nephews, Zachary (Brittany) Fayette, their children, Beau and Luci; Matthew Dockins and his daughter Emily, all from the Sikeston area; stepbrother, James Garner; and stepsister, Jenny Garner both of Memphis, Tenness
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer "Sonny" L. Johnson; and his mother and stepfather, Norma Jewell White (David R.) Garner; stepbrother, Jeffery Nicholas "Nick" Garner; stepsister, Carmen Dockins.
The Memorial Service will be held in the Committal Shelter at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, Missouri, Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
