Homicide under investigation in Charleston

CHARLESTON, Mo. — Police are investigating the early Sunday shooting death of a Charleston man.

According to Charleston Department of Public Safety Director Robert Hearnes, at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, his agency received a call of person shot at 724 Warren St. in Charleston. Responding officers found a deceased male at the residence, and he was identified as 50-year-old Rodney Johnson of Charleston.

“The scene is still active, and our agency is being assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office,” Hearnes said. “There are no suspects in custody at this time.”
