For those looking for something to do for Halloween, there are plenty of events taking place this weekend into Monday’s holiday. For those looking for something to do for Halloween, there are plenty of events taking place this weekend into Monday’s holiday.

The events kick off on Saturday morning with the Bootheel Counseling Services 13th Annual Goblin Gallop 5K/1 Mile Fun Run and Walk at BCS, 760 Plantation Boulevard in Sikeston.

Packet and T-shirt pickup will be from 7:30-8:15 a.m. with the 5K race and 1 mile fun run to begin at 8:30 a.m. The event is rain or shine family event and the road course will start and stop at the BCS building. Those taking part are encouraged to wear their halloween costumes.

The cost is $25 for the 5K on race day and $15 for the one mile fun run/walk.

There are also three trivia competition fundraisers on Saturday.

Spooky Trivia will begin at 6 p.m. at Parengo Coffee for teams of 1-4 people. The cost is $5 per person.

A trivia competition fundraiser for the Sikeston OAKS Center and its home-delivered meal program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the OAKS Center, 305 Cresap St., in Sikeston. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Entry fee is $15 per person, up to eight players per team. All proceeds will benefit the Sikeston OAKS Center and its home-delivered meal program. A trivia night fundraiser for the Richland yearbook staff will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Richland High School cafeteria. The cost is $10 per person with teams up to eight per team. There are plenty of activities for children as well.

Sikeston R-6 School District’s transportation staff will host their Second Annual Fall Festival from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 212 S. Ingram in Sikeston. There will be games, prizes, candy and more.

Then on Sunday, the Miner Baptist Church will hold a trunk or treat from 4-7 p.m.

Of course, plenty of events are scheduled for Halloween evening.

• The Sanctuary, 1506 N. Main in Sikeston, will hold their fourth annual trunk or treat from 6:30-8 p.m. There will be plenty of candy, hayrides and giveaways.

• A trunk or treat with Stop the Violence will be held at 6 p.m. at the pavilion on the corner of William and Branum Streets. There will be a movie playing along with roasting of marshmallows, drinking of hot chocolate and pumpkin painting. Bring your lawn chairs.

• A trunk or treat will be held at American Legion Post 114. Starting at dusk.

• An inside trunk or treat will be held at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 2001 Ables Road in Sikeston, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

• La Bonne Maison, 226 Plaza Drive in Sikeston, will be holding their first Halloween trunk or treat from 5-7 p.m.

• The First Baptist Church, 1101 N. Main in Sikeston, will hold their annual fall festival from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday.

• Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church will host a trunk or treat event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the corner of Allen and Wakefield in Sikeston.

• A trunk or treat will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 in the parking lot of the Scott County Jail in Benton. There will be music, candy and games.

• A trunk or treat will be from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Fire Station, 21 W. North St., in Benton.

• A community trunk or treat is planned from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the New Madrid County Courthouse. For more information contact the New Madrid Chamber of Commerce at 748-5300.
